Marvin Dickman holds B.S. and M.A.S. degrees from the University of Illinois and is a retired tax partner of Arthur Andersen LLP where his practice was concentrated in the area of small business and estate planning. He is the author of numerous articles on taxation as well as a book, Tax Opportunities for Owners of Closely Held Companies. His firm responsibilities also included extensive public speaking. He has served on the Boards of Directors of the Juvenile Protective Association, the Museum of Broadcast Communications, the Union for Reform Judaism and the Board of Jewish Education of Metropolitan Chicago, serving the latter as President. He has also served on the Board of Overseers of the Hebrew Union College and as a committee member within the organization of the White House Conference on Small Business in 1980. In 1999, he took advantage of an early retirement opportunity to enroll in the University of Chicago, earning a Master's degree in Jewish Studies in the Division of Humanities. He continued study there and conducted research at the American Jewish Archives leading to a second career lecturing on American Jewish History. He has occasionally taught at programs such as Elderhostel on the subject of Old-Time-Radio.
Dickman is a gubernatorial appointed member of the IHC Board.
