A long-term member of the Historical Society in Christian County, Adele Bratt is honored for her efforts to educate her fellow citizens of Bulpitt about their heritage. She has shared her knowledge of the area''s history with high school students for their projects that detail local history and identify local citizens who have gone on to prominent careers. Students have also benefited from her volunteer work in the schools. For many years, she spent Saturdays working in the libraries of the South Fork Junior High and High Schools. But youth are not the only ones to benefit from Ms. Bratt''s generosity with her time and commitment to the humanities. She also reads to seniors in area hospitals and nursing homes.
Select Illinois Humanities Council programs are now available for listening or download at Chicago Public Media (WBEZ) as a part of Chicago Amplified, a web-based audio library of diverse public events recorded throughout the Chicago region.
