The Honorable Lorenz "Larry" Hartwig
Addison
a retired schoolteacher, devotes countless hours of her time to humanities organizations in the Village of Addison. She is a past president and current board member of the not-for-profit Addison Historical Society, and she is also a member of the Addison Historical Commission, an advisory commission involved in historical preservation. During her involvement with the Commission and the Society, Ms. Larsen has had her hands in all aspects of their work. She has attended meetings, raised funds?including a large endowment that will provide regular income for the Society?and has worked to acquire many artifacts for the Museum. She has also worked with Addison School District 4 to bring historical artifacts into the classroom, thus enabling children to ?touch? history. During Ms. Larsen's tenure on the Commission and Society board, the Village acquired two vintage 1890's homes. One is now being used as Addison's museum, while the other has been restored to its original look, complete with furnishings from the period. What's more, she was instrumental in establishing the first historical district in the Village of Addison. Though she enjoys an active retirement, Ms. Larsen is always available to lend a hand whenever the Society or the Commission need her.
