Ann Vance is being honored for her dedication to the Western Springs Historical Society as its Archives Manager. Ms. Vance''s interest in the Village of Western Springs began in 1955 when she volunteered at the Western Springs Library. Her volunteer position eventually led to a full time position and she was later named Head Librarian, a post she held until 1983. At the time of her retirement, Ms. Vance decided to direct her skills in archives management to the Western Springs Historical Society. The Western Springs Historical Society focuses on collecting, preserving and exhibiting memorabilia of historic significance to the Village of Western Springs. In her twenty years with the society she has catalogued artifacts, donated pictures, and has organized the endless stream of news articles both past and present. All documents, letters, photographs, artifacts, and objects of note are assembled, catalogued, described and made available to the residents in either the museum or the archives. Ms. Vance has also served as a member of the Bicentennial Celebration Committee.
