Bobette Takiff is honored for her dedication to education, arts, and culture in Glencoe and Chicago. Ms. Takiff was co-leader and coordinator of the Junior Great Books program at Central (Junior High) School in Glencoe. Most recently, she has provided the seed money for a fund at the Glencoe Public library for the purchase if books about art. She is also a past member of the New Trier Fine Arts Association and has been a volunteer docent at the Art Institute in Chicago for 11 years. After being appointed to the Board of the Illinois Humanities Council by Governor Jim Edgar in 1991, Ms. Takiff served as member and secretary until 2000. She has also been instrumental in establishing the Children''s Humanities Festival, a recent addition to the Chicago Humanities Festival. Ms. Takiff currently serves as a Board member for the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies.
