Glen Ellyn

Dan Anderson is Chair of the Development Committee at the Glen Ellyn Historical Society. Village President Mark Pfefferman says that, "Dan ... has truly galvanized the organization. Boundless energy, creativity, dedication, and spirit of cooperation are the hallmarks of Dan's involvement in countless aspects of the Society's growth and viability."

Since 2000, the Historical Society has been fundraising to develop a History Park in Glen Ellyn that will expand archive and research facilities, increase exhibit space and displays, and provide proper storage for artifacts and collections, among many other benefits. Dan has spearheaded this effort, raising public awareness of the importance of local history and establishing partnerships with other community organizations. He has worked with local newspapers to print a weekly column on Glen Ellyn history, given presentations on Glen Ellyn history to local audiences, and underwritten the production of a DVD, Remembering Gleyn Ellyn. He is also the author of a new book, Stories from Glen Ellyn's Past Volume I, which was published April 1, 2009. Plans for future volumes are in the works.

"Dan's support of the humanities at the local level and his many contributions of time, talent, energy, enthusiasm, and other resources-not only to the Historical Society but to many other organizations make him ... truly a Humanities Hero in our community," adds Pfefferman.
