A resident of Barrington for nearly 30 years, David Nelson is honored for his tireless efforts to preserve and improve his community. A Village Board Member for eight years, Mr. Nelson also served a term as Village President. During his tenure as Village President, he provided for the preservation of 17 acres of unique wooded area known as Baker''s Lake Savannah. Mr. Nelson has also been intensely involved in the education system in this community. In addition to his volunteer work on advisory committees and his role as guest lecturer to high school government classes, Mr. Nelson serves on the Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble Advisory Board and the Barrington High School Fine Arts Boosters Board. He has also served on the Barrington Area Arts Council Advisory Board and has aided in the organization of the Barrington Children''s Choir. In addition, he belongs to the Barrington Historical Society and sits on the Society''s Board of Trustees, working to preserve local heritage.
