A resident of Tower Lakes and vicinity for 21 years, Mr. David Parro is honored for his volunteer efforts to research, preserve and publicize Tower Lakes historical information. He authored a history of the Village and created and maintains an innovative "Virtual Museum" web site to share historic photos and documents describing Tower Lakes'' origins. This project earned "Millennium Community" recognition for the Village from the White House in 2000. He collaborated with a Wheaton College staff member on an article describing the role of evangelist Paul Rader in the early days of Tower Lakes. He continues to track down old photos and artifacts, record oral histories and reminiscences of residents, lead history walking tours, and promote local history preservation. He is a member of the Barrington Area Historical Society, the Tower Lakes Village Board, and is a past member of the Tower Lakes Improvement Association Board of Directors.
