Becerra
Nominated By:
The Honorable Linda Jackson
Glendale Heights
is a 30-year resident of Glendale Heights (and the Village's administrator) that has made it her mission to challenge those who say her Village has no history. As a charter member of the Glendale Heights Historical Committee, Ms. Becerra was instrumental in researching and documenting the history of the Village. She is, in fact, considered to be the ?Village Historian.? Through her tireless research efforts, the Historical Committee was able to publish its first history magazine, ?Looking Back in Time, Looking Toward the Future.? Her commitment to inspiring other local citizens to become interested in their town's history continues as she spearheads the preservation and restoration of the Glendale Heights Historic House. This c. 1888 Victorian farmhouse once slated for demolition, is now a small but growing museum that will house historic artifacts and documents specific to the Village's history.
