is honored for her more than 25 years of service as an educator in Wauconda. From her pioneering work with the Illinois Young Authors Program, to her continued involvement as a tutor and spelling bee judge in school reading programs, Ms. Aimers-Voss is an exemplary "humanities hero." Her volunteer work benefits adults as well as children: the community book club she started 20 years ago is still going strong, and she also tutors in the Lake County Literacy Programs. On a regular basis, Ms. Aimers-Voss collects books for a homeless shelter in Lake County. In addition, she has been very involved with the Wauconda Historical Society, compiling an oral history of Wauconda that has been published in two volumes.
Select Illinois Humanities Council programs are now available for listening or download at Chicago Public Media (WBEZ) as a part of Chicago Amplified, a web-based audio library of diverse public events recorded throughout the Chicago region.
