Author of Canton's most comprehensive history, "The History of Canton through a Pharmacist's Show Globe," Edward R. Lewis, Jr. has owned and operated the Lewis pharmacy every day since 1939. The town's resident historian, Mr. Lewis has highlighted the history of Canton through presentations at the Illinois State Fair, programs of historic interest, and through the stories he tells to visitors of all ages to the historic Lewis Pharmacy. A recent appointee to the Canton Heritage Committee, Mr. Lewis continues his life-long commitment to educating the citizens of Canton about the heritage of their community.
