In addition to his notable work with children, Ford J. Green finds time to dedicate to humanities work in his community of Godfrey. As a volunteer with the Telephone Pioneers, he reads books to the blind. Mr. Green was also involved in the group that worked for the preservation of Lincoln/Douglas Square. For the past 20 years, he has volunteered at the Heritage Days event, which looks back in time at life in Godfrey. He works the entrance of the event, dresses in period costume, and gives demonstrations of life during a historical period in his community.
