Gail Koveski has spent countless hours of volunteer service in promoting the rich heritage of the Village of Burr Ridge. She held a four-year term on the Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Corridor Civic Center Authority, an organization committed to preserving and promoting the cultural, historic, recreational, and economic development of the National Heritage Corridor. In addition, she represented Burr Ridge on the Canal Sesquicentennial Committee. Her service to the community and promotion of the humanities did not end there, however. Ms. Koveski has been a member of the Graue Mill and Museum Society since 1992, working to preserve and promote the only operating waterwheel gristmill in Illinois and one of only three authenticated Underground Railroad stations in the state. She joined the Flagg Creek Historical Society in 1996, serving as vice-president of the Society from 2000 to 2002 and chairing the Heart of the Matter Fundraiser in 2001 and 2002. Ms. Koveski has been a member of the Indian Prairie Friends of the Library since 1989.
