Nominated By:
The Honorable William D. McLeod
Hoffman Estates

For the past twenty-five years as choral director at Hoffman Estates High School, George Gentes has been gifted with the ability to develop a rapport with students and motivate them to perform at extremely high levels. He has always believed it to be his responsibility to share the choir with as many people as possible. He is a teacher first and has taught many students the importance of giving back to the community. Mr. Gentes is actively involved in the school and the community with his choirs and Madrigal Singers, an elite group of high school students who sing songs of the Renaissance. Under Mr. Gentes' direction, the Hoffman Estates High School choir has, for the past twenty-nine years, performed locally, nationally, and internationally. They have made appearances everywhere from New York City to New Orleans, Denmark to Mexico. Locally they have performed at hospitals and retirement homes, village events and Rotary events, as well as a host of other community performances. Under Mr. Gentes direction, the choir has performed to rave reviews throughout the world and here at home.
