Ivan Fahs is honored for his dedication to educating his sociology students over his 20-year teaching career at Wheaton College. A Past President of the Illinois Sociological Association, Professor Fahs has sensitized his students to the problems of homelessness in areas all over the United States -- from the Native American reservations of Minnesota, to the poor rural communities of New York State, to the homelessness problem in his own community of Wheaton. He has done writing and research in the field with students on over 650 visits to various homeless communities.
Select Illinois Humanities Council programs are now available for listening or download at Chicago Public Media (WBEZ) as a part of Chicago Amplified, a web-based audio library of diverse public events recorded throughout the Chicago region.
