Oswego
For more than thirty years Jacquie Weirich taught at the Village of Oswego's K-12 schools. During her tenure, Ms. Weirich served in a variety of volunteer positions within the education community. She served on the Tri-county advisory committee responsible for special education instruction, and she rewrote the local social studies curriculum to include an emphasis on local history and heritage while at the same time making adaptations for special needs students. But Ms. Weirich's volunteer efforts go beyond her work in the schools. In 1983, when Oswego was celebrating is Sesquicentennial, she organized a group of local volunteers and amateur thespians to perform a play that highlighted the first one hundred-fifty years of Oswego history. Ms. Weirich herself directed the play, which was entitled ?Much Ado About Oswego.? Her creative efforts have influenced many young citizens in Oswego. She was the author and director of two annual performances of ?Oswego Follies,? which was performed by community volunteers to raise funds for the newly established Oswego Foundation of Educational Excellence. These events not only raised money for a fledgling foundation, but also highlighted the many talented individuals in the community.
