Jeanette Wood has been interested in art and involved in arts edcuation all of her life. Since 1995 she has been taking art classes and has enrolled her children in them so that they may develop their talent and appreciation of art. Ms. Wood has long held a burning desire to see an art center and gallery in the Village of Palos Park. To that end, she became involved with a plan to convert an historic 1830's farmhouse into a gallery to display the work of local artists and to provide classes in various artistic media. She is currently the treasurer of the McCord House NFP, a not-for-profit organization formed in 2003 and dedicated to seeing the realization of that goal. Ms. Wood has been actively involved in planning and executing several fundraisers for the project. Her hard work has paid off. In September 2004, the McCord Gallery and Art Center will open its doors with its first exhibit ?Palos Plein Air.? Art classes will also begin at that time. According to Palos Park's President, Carolyn A. Baca, ?The Village of Palos Park is indebted to Jeanette for her dedication to the development of the McCord Gallery and Cultural Center. Without her enthusiastic and untiring willingness to work with designers, volunteers, and workmen on all aspects of the showcase, the event would never have been accomplished.?
