Before her retirement, Joann Terry taught at Colona School for many years. During that time she was the school's self-appointed historian, gathering information on the school's history and sharing the information with anyone who was interested. Now, however, Ms. Terry has turned her attention and research skills to the entire City of Colona. For several years she has been compiling research for a book on the area's history, a book she may soon publish. Her knowledge of the community is vast, so vast that whenever a resident or past resident contacts City Hall for information regarding the city's history?be it the location of a cemetery or a building that has been torn down?they are often referred to Ms. Terry, who is always happy to assist. She recently developed a plan for a historical tour of the area, highlighting points of interest, and she has suggested that the city get a tour guide who will dress in period clothing. Ms. Terry is recognized for the countless hours she has spent over the years researching the area's history and for unselfishly giving her time to preserve and disseminate that history.
