Nominated By:
The Honorable Ed Wollet
Clinton

Joey Woolridge is the DeWitt County historian and served as vice chairwoman of the Lincoln Heritage Committee of DeWitt County, where she helped secure ten "Looking for Lincoln" exhibits for DeWitt County. She has a weekly column on local history in the Clinton Journal. Mayor Ed Wollet praised this column for focusing on "the everyday person … rags to riches stories, of people looking for a better life." She has written two books that expand on her column: Letters to Mary, a book of letters written to Mary Hoover depicting a life filled with the challenges of the mid1800s, and ‘Til Death Do Us Part, a book that tells the story of the tragic life and death of Pet Magill. She has also been published in Civil War Magazine and is an active member of the local genealogy group.

Mayor Wollet says that "Joey Woolridge is by far the heart and soul of DeWitt County history. Many people know the facts and can recite the important dates and events … but Joey knows the stories that made the events and dates notable to our county."
