John A. Nicholson is honored for his commitment to promoting the history and heritage of Franklin Grove. A founding member of the Franklin Creek State Park and Natural Area Committee, Mr. Nicholson has worked to bring the only known solely water-driven operating gristmill in the State, the Franklin Creek Grist Mill, to the Park in Franklin Grove. Mr. Nicholson also serves as the Vice President and a charter member of the Farming Heritage organization, which was established to preserve, protect, and restore a portion of Midwest rural historical life on the Illinois prairie.
