For twenty-seven years, John DeLap touched the lives of students through his work as guidance director and counselor at Community High School, District 94. Since his retirement in 1987, Mr. DeLap has continued devote time to District 94 and has been active in promoting the humanities in the West Chicago community. Since 1988, he has volunteered his time to the West Chicago City Museum as docent and field worker, going out into the community and discovering artifacts for the museum's collection. What's more, he serves on the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission and is a trustee on the Wayne & Helen Fox Community Center board. As Michael R. Fortner, Mayor of West Chicago, puts it, ?if John has the time and someone has need, he is there to help.?
