Ms. Judith Puckett chronicles Wayne County life. She is Fairfield''s unsung heroine working quietly and steadily to preserve, honor, and build the community''s assets - its history and future. Ms. Puckett has been a college educator for more than 25 years. She organized the Phi Theta Kappa chapter at Frontier Community College and served as its advisor from 1994 to 1998. Through her leadership, Phi Theta Kappa brought programs to grade school students introducing them to the humanities. Ms. Puckett is a charter member of the Historical Preservation Committee for the City of Fairfield. She is President of the Wayne County Historical Society and responsible for its revival through increased membership, programs and acquisitions. In association with Phi Theta Kappa, Ms. Puckett provides volunteer guides for the Historical Society''s historical museum. Ms. Puckett serves on the board of the Fairfield Public Library and helped spearhead a drive that raised more than $350,000 to build an addition to the library. In addition, Ms. Puckett writes the "Blue Plate Journal," a collection of local historical stories and information for the Wayne County Press. Ms. Puckett authored Bookmark Minutes, a compilation of local history, originally broadcast on WFIW 104.9 FM and then published in soft cover. Ms. Puckett serves as a tour guide of the historical museum to groups of grade school children to emphasize the importance of our local history. She was also recently involved with the National Register of Historic Places to identify local properties worthy of national recognition.
