In 1993, Kaye Heath heard the plea for "younger help" from the Rantoul Historical Society and she answered with gusto. She was elected Treasurer and later took over as Secretary as well, and before long Ms. Heath was working on historical displays for the Chanute Air Museum as well. She became immersed in the history of Rantoul, working with scrapbooks, files, and artifacts stored and displayed at the museum. Because of Ms. Heath's roots in Rantoul and her desire to share the community's history with her fellow residents, she has inventoried all of the museum's artifacts and is constantly coming up with new ideas for displays, a process that includes researching the history of each item and oftentimes scouring antique and garage sales. According to Mayor Neal Williams, "due to the dedication, enthusiasm, and unending work of Kaye Heath, the future of the Rantoul Historical Society is in safe hands."
