Ken Sereno, a retired blacksmith and hardware store owner (and current alderman), has dedicated his time and energy to preserve and share the City of Morris? local heritage. A long-time resident of the City of Morris, one can usually find Mr. Sereno walking the streets of downtown'sometimes in period clothing from the 1850's and 1860's?and the older parts of the city, looking at the architecture. Or, you might find him at the local library researching the history of Morris? historic buildings, perusing microfilm of archived newspapers, and documenting the downtown retail buildings? original builders and owners. Mr. Sereno freely volunteers his time to speak at local schools, adult forums, and public meetings about the history and heritage of the city. People often call him at home with questions ranging from buildings and businesses to lifestyles and family trees. He is always happy to answer questions or to ?dig in? and find the answer. He is recognized for his love of the city and his dedication to preserving and sharing his knowledge of its history.
