The resident folk and oral historian of Lemont, Lee Anderson brings his community's historic past to life through the narrated tours he leads along the Lemont portion of the I & M Canal National Heritage Corridor. In the summer of 2004 when the new Heritage Quarries recreation Area opened, Mr. Anderson leads tours of quarries for interested residents. A member of the Lemont Artists' Guild for more than 10 years, Mr. Anderson is a self-taught wood carver who educates school groups in Lemont about the art of woodcarving. In the words of Village President John Piazza, Mr. Anderson is a "colorful character" [whose] good nature, sense of humor, and amiability add to the interest he generates in Lemont's historic past.
