Linda Stengele is honored for her role in educating her community about the local history of Fox River Grove. An avid genealogist and charter member of the McHenry County Illinois Genealogical Society, Ms. Stengele has researched several historic areas in Fox River Grove, including the Oak Glen Cemetery. She has been instrumental in identifying a number of graves at this historic site, including that of Civil War soldier Private John G. Kelly. Ms. Stengele helped to organize the re-dedication of the military marker for the civil war soldier, including a performance and re-enactment by the First Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Light Artillery Battery. She also updates the 1951 edition of "A History of Fox River Grove, Illinois."
