Michelle Micetich is a retired school teacher with more than 30 years of service in education. A lifelong resident of Carbon Hill, she helped secure the one-room Carbon Hill School building from the village and turn it into the Carbon Hill School Museum. The school has been in the village since 1893. She is the president of the Carbon Hill School Museum and Carbon Hill Historical Society. The museum traces the history of coal mining in the Carbon Hill area and Grundy County itself. She has managed to collect a very impressive array of artifacts and the history of the men and women who lived in the area and worked in the minds around Carbon Hill and in the town itself during the late 19th century when the mines were booming.
Village President Edward M. Pacchetti says, "She is not on any village payroll, untiringly donating many hours a month to the museum and village."
