Pegram
Nominated By:
The Honorable John Kravcik
Western Springs
Nancy Pegram has spent thirty-five years working to further the causes of the Western Springs Historical Society, serving five of those years as the Society's president. In 1991, while Ms. Pegram was co-president, lightning struck the Western Springs Historical Water Tower, and the Tower suffered extensive water damage. She and her fellow trustees put in countless hours over the subsequent weeks and months painstakingly restoring the Tower and its artifacts to their original condition. Ms. Pegram has spent the last 10 years training the Tower docents and conducting tours. She annually coordinates the tours for the two hundred local third-grade students who study the history of the Village of Western Springs in their classrooms. Ms. Pegram also volunteers her time each week helping to organize historical articles and artifacts at the Grand Avenue School Archives.
