The Village of Lake Zurich''s preeminent local historian, Spencer Loomis is honored for his efforts to preserve and record his community''s local heritage. As a longstanding member of the Ela Historical Society, Mr. Loomis was chosen to write the first comprehensive local history of Ela Township. With the help of the Historical Society, he published "A Pictorial History of Ela Township," now in its second printing. In addition to the research Mr. Loomis did for the book, he also spearheaded an oral history project and recorded interviews with long-time residents of the community in an effort to preserve their stories. A popular local speaker and former history teacher and junior high school Principal, he has written six books on local and WWII history, including "Lake Zurich Centennial - 100 years of a Midwestern Village."
