The former State's Attorney of Putnam County for 40 years, Walter Boyle's generous and sustained contributions to his community of Hennepin are truly inspirational. Along with providing the financial means to construct a senior housing facility in Hennepin, Mr. Boyle has created a number of living memorials to his late wife. Since her death, Mr. Boyle has helped to establish the Hazel Marie Boyle Cardiac Rehab Center and the Hazel Marie Boyle Women's? Health Center at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hennepin. In addition, he orchestrated the construction of a fountain and plaza dedicated to the memory of his late wife. Mr. Boyle is honored with the Studs Terkel Humanities Service Award for his help in creating and establishing the Putnam County Educational Foundation, an organization that makes grants to support fine arts education, innovative classroom projects by teachers, and the purchase of educational technology. In addition, Mr. Boyle (and his late wife) provided the financial means to fund college scholarships for local students. The Illinois State Bar Association recognized Mr. Boyle's contributions with the ?Top General Practitioner? award, and he has often provided free legal services for local citizens.
