A display case of historic documents and photos highlighting the 75-year history of The Illinois Conference of Churches (1930-2005). The exhibition details the statewide ecumenical organization's place in history, building bridges across the Christian denominational traditions and working together for justice to benefit the common good. Dr. Joel Palka of the University of Illinois at Chicago will present new archaeological and ethnohistoric data showing how the Lacandon Maya of lowland Chiapas, Mexico, and adjacent Peten, Guatemala, remained unconquered through history, and how they adjusted to the colonization of the area through unique innovations.
