A Road Scholar program by Charles Schweighauser

America has a long and rich tradition of landscape painting that dates back to the early Republic. Analyzing slides of landscape paintings from the Hudson River School to the western painters Remington and Russell, Schweighauser provides listeners with a way to understand the origins of the nation's environmental values. In addition, it allows us to see our late-twentieth century environmental values in a new and different light.
