In the course of a century, food has moved from a public health issue due to insufficiency to a health issue due to excess. Biotechnology has been recruited to help the food supply chain with objectives to improve quantity, quality, and composition. Some proposals include conversion of excess food into fuel. This presentation will examine the consequences and implications for society in general and individuals in particular.
