Through literature and storytelling participants can learn about and understand the lived experiences of people from varied cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds as well as touch on some realizations about themselves and their health practices.

This workshop will create a space for adults to dialogue about their own perceptions of health, where those perceptions stem from, and how they manifest in their daily lives.

The seminar may include units on topics such as the Tuskegee Experiment (using Ms. Evers' Boys by David Feldshuh and "Tuskegee Experiment" by Sadiq) and health and environment (using Refuge by Terry Tempest Williams).

Geraldine Gorman of the Illinois Humanities Council will lead this workshop.

This workshop will run through Thursday, March 30, 2006.
