Whether Michael Moore`s newest documentary Sicko left you feeling inspired or ill at ease, join us for a conversation about the current state of the local and national healthcare system in response to this new documentary. Laura Washington from DePaul University will lead a discussion with Columbia College film professor Ron Falzoneáand Dr. Claudia Fegan, board member and former president of Physicians for a National Health Program. Participants are encouraged to view the film prior to this event. In the K/Now is a series of dynamic discussions about events and issues that headline local news and conversations around town. Through In the K/Now, the Chicago History Museum will be responsive to the events and issues that headline local papers and news, those discussed at bus stops, community centers, neighborhood parks, corner bars, grocery stores, and coffee shops. The In the K/Now series is presented in partnership with The Public Square at the Illinois Humanities Council and the Chicago History Museum. The series is made possible in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Illinois Humanities Council, and the Illinois General Assembly.
Select Illinois Humanities Council programs are now available for listening or download at Chicago Public Media (WBEZ) as a part of Chicago Amplified, a web-based audio library of diverse public events recorded throughout the Chicago region.
