Dr. Joel Palka of the University of Illinois at Chicago will present new archaeological and ethnohistoric data showing how the Lacandon Maya of lowland Chiapas, Mexico, and adjacent Peten, Guatemala, remained unconquered through history, and how they adjusted to the colonization of the area through unique innovations.
Each 45- to 60-minute lecture is slide-illustrated, and opportunity is provided after the lecture for questions and discussion. Please call Sandy at (708) 349-3908 for further information.
