When Chicago actor and playwright Ben Byer was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease), the 31-year-old turned the video camera on himself to chronicle his struggles with this neurological disease that sadly claimed his life this past summer.

Part video diary, part travelogue, ''Indestructible'' (2008, 118 min.) follows Ben as he not only grows weaker, but travels around the globe to seek out alternative treatments, meet other ALS patients and - at the end - to reconnect with Judaism.

Despite the dark subject, ''Indestructible'' is full of humor, frankness, and humanity -- an inspiring autobiographical documentary that chronicles Ben's intense and uplifting quest to survive.

''An immersive, edifying journey of acceptance, setback, and strength.'' -- Eddie Cockrell, Variety With producer Rebecca Rush (Ben's sister) in person.
