There are numerous reasons why humankind is exploring space. One of them is the urge to explore, a very elemental need that defines us as human beings. Other reasons are political, economic, and military. With many more players and more ambitious plans in place, space has become an extension of our "home," rather than a foreign territory. What have we achieved so far and at what price? What are the promises of the next 100 years of space exploration? More importantly, how does this impact our society, our way of thinking, and our future as a human family?
