On Earth Day, 2008, the Decatur Area Arts Council, Kirkland Fine Arts Center, and WUIS radio will host a community dialogue about the previous, current, and future state of Central Illinois waterways and the increasing struggle for quality and quantity in communities Decatur and Springfield. Guest speaker, John Cronin, champion of the Hudson River ecosystem, will be joined onstage by local and state waterway officials. The conversation will be framed by audio interviews with current uses of water, along with past NPR and "Climate Connections" stories. The two-hour afternoon discussion will be broadcast on WUIS two evenings.
