Guest writers and educators will discuss the historical, political, thematic, and formal linkages between the slave song, gospel/spirituals, blues, protest chants and songs, hip-hop/rap and slam poetry in youth writing workshops. In addition, these writer-educators will participate in two community reading/discussions sharing workshop content and their own creative works with participants' parents, and the North Lawndale and Little Village community members.
