A one-day conference for youth 13-19 from throughout Illinois that will explore how authors like Toni Morrison, Patricia Smith, Quraysh Ali Lansana, Angela Davis and Charles Burnett "convey a big idea or large concept such as freedom, identity and democracy". The conference will be held November 7th at Columbia College. The focal point of the conference will be a discussion/debate among youth participants, complemented by workshops and breakout discussions led by teaching artists.Award Date:
