The 2009 Eastern Illinois University's Literature Conference for teachers will focus on the author whom previous participants most often request - William Shakespeare. The program this year, geared for area English teachers, will include a new production of "The Tempest," by EIU Theatre Arts Department, a curtain talk prior to the performance, a plenary talk on "'Her Infinite Variety': The Women of Shakespeare's World," by Alexandra Bennett of Northern Illinois University, a plenary talk by Don-John Dugas of Kent State University, and small-group workshop sessions, plus an idea exchange for "Teaching Shakespeare."
