This exhibit will detail "Egypt", aka Southern Illinois, through an exploration of its history, culture, and regional identity, as it compares to the rest of Illinois. The exhibit - divided into four distinct sections - will deal with each succeeding topic: A Place Called Egypt; African Americans and Slavery in Egypt; Lincoln in Egypt; and Egypt in the Civil War. The exhibit will open at the Murphysboro Apple Festival in Fall 2009 and will then travel through a good portion of the region.
