This is a series of presentations on the activation of the 99th Pursuit Squadron at Chanute Field, Rantoul IL in April of 1941. This was the first all black unit with a mission of flying in combat and maintaining the aircraft for combat. The 99th enlisted personnel, mostly from Illinois, were trained in all phases of aircraft maintenance and paved the way for the famed Tuskegee Airmen.
