In Street-Level Youth Media's Summer Arts Apprenticeship Program for 2009, 15 youth will be paired with adult artist mentors to produce media projects based on this year's theme, "Work: Exploring Labor and Industry through the Arts." Throughout the eight week program, youth will learn from guest humanities lecturers and participate in substantive discussions on Chicago's industrial history, workers' rights and the economic downturn, and investigations of creative work and/or other unpaid work. The program will culminate in a multi-media group exhibition at the Hyde Park Arts Center.
