This program includes an exhibition and outreach activities around the centennial celebration of Glos Polek. (The Polish Women's Voice--the official publication of the Polish Women's Alliance of America) The exhibition will feature fourteen reproductions of front pages of Glos Polek, as well as articles and photographs from the newspaper, about events that have shaped the world over the last one hundred years, told through the voice of immigrant women. Wall tags, describing the historical context of the articles and photographs, will accompany the pieces. The exhibit will open in October 2010 for Polish America Heritage Month and will travel to three venues in Chicago. Lecture and discussion panels will accompany the exhibit, and will address issues such as: the future of newspapers, the historical importance of fraternal benefit societies, and the history of Polish Americans in Chicago.
