The Whiteside County Barn tour includes a two-day tour of historic barns in Whiteside County, in July 2010. This year, twelve barns will be included on the tour. Some are still functioning barns, while some barns have been transformed through adaptive re-use for other purposes.Participants on the tour will receive a bound, in-color tour booklet, with sketches and information about each barn's history, as well as a map with suggested tour routes and other related educational destinations along the way. The booklet is illustrated by David Alan Badger, an Illinois architecture artist. This year, photographer Larry Kanfer (who is a preeminent photographer of the Prairiescapes) will also conduct a traveling barn photography workshop at 3-4 of the barn sites. During one evening, he will conduct a presentation on photographs about the barns of Illinois.
