The 3G Summit is a multi-faceted public series that provokes dialogue and awareness about gender representation and participation in our society's fastest growing cultural medium-digital gaming. This three-day initiative takes place at Columbia College in August 2010 and involves 50 teen girls as participants in a 1) major public interactive symposia featuring leading female scholars in game theory/design; 2) an intensive discussion and gaming literacy-based workshop; and 3) a public expo and gender inclusive game design challenge. By asking, what do girls like to play best? the 3G Summit creates a pedagogical and public arena where a diverse group of young women can better contribute to the larger discourse around the future of girls, gaming and gender equity.
