"Garlic & Greens: Accessible Soul Food Stories" is the educational component of the Barrier-Free Wellness Garden designed by Archeworks in Chicago's Washington Park. Garlic & Greens will organize two public lectures with humanities scholars and produce a set of recipe cards featuring healthy soul food recipes in large print, audio files, and Braille. The humanities lectures will feature notable humanists like Timuel Black, Audrey Petty, and Jane Dunhamm and will showcase migration history, food heritage, cultural and disability studies and will be accompanied by a potluck to encourage dialogue about family and community history and the foodways of African Americans during the Great Migration.
