Location(s)
As a follow-up to the successful outreach initiative in April 2011, WQPT will host an encore and public screening of Stanley Nelson's film "Freedom Riders" on October 15, 2011. Featured in the film is Diane Nash - one of the most respected student leaders of the sit-in movement during the Civil Rights Era. One of the founding members of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee in April 1960, Ms. Nash went on to inspire thousands with her involvement in sit-ins and the freedom rides. Ms. Nash will be on hand to deliver her eyewitness to history at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Rock Island after a screening of the film.
